Battery inspection equipment specialist CAT Beam Tech has launched a 3D CT-based ultra-fast inline inspection system. This system can inspect cylindrical 4680 batteries (46mm in diameter and 80mm in height) at a production speed of 30 PPM (parts per minute). It offers an optimized solution for high-volume electric vehicle battery production lines and helps to fundamentally prevent battery fire incidents. Additionally, it can accurately detect micro-cracks, internal short circuits, and metallic foreign substances as small as tens of micrometers in battery cells, which were previously difficult to identify with conventional 2D X-ray technology.
